Marin City Votes Nov. 3 on Who Runs One of the Bay Area's Oldest Black Communities

Ten candidates are running for the Community Services District board as housing and gentrification press on a neighborhood more than 80 years old.

Voters in Marin City, just north of Sausalito, will choose members of the Marin City Community Services District board in the Nov. 3 election. The board is the community's own local government.

Marin City has been home to Black families for more than 80 years and is one of the longest-standing African American neighborhoods in the Bay Area. Affordable housing and gentrification are at the center of this year's race, according to Bay City News.

Ten candidates are running. They met for a debate on Sept. 15 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Marin City.

Residents can confirm where they are registered and what is on their ballot with the Marin County Elections Department before Nov. 3.
